So we had our cousins over for dinner last night. They lost their home and had been living in Baton Rouge, but are now (sort of) back, in a new house. It was the first time we'd seen them in months, and Sarah cooked up a big pot of red beans. It was lovely.
Red beans and rice on Monday. That is the way life should be. Mmmm. Did y'all make cornbread?
ReplyDeletewait, wait, wait ... i fix black beans and rice but it might not be quite the same. if you mention a particular dish, how 'bout a recipe to go with it -- what kind of beans, what seasoning, etc.
ReplyDeleteJust classic New Orleans Red Beans and rice. My lady makes a top notch version though I don't have her recipe handy. A quick Google turns up a slew of them. This one should give you the general idea (although it includes some decidedly idiosyncratic optional items).
