Posts, Pictures, and Pointless Ephemera
And I will be picking it up again, now that Jazz Fest is over. The landscape around Michoud is so dismal, yet not a result of the storm. Can you imagine staring out into that swamp on a full-moon-lit night?I cannot believe that The New Orleans East Corporation sold land to people out there -and that the city then said, go ahead, build on slabs!Billy is writing an article/chapter in his book about the history of development in the East and the details are frickin' sick. They make Christmas movies about this shit, but the people win in the end.
Yeah, I'm very curious to see Billy's piece.
And it although was weird and dismal before the storm, now the strangeness is of another order of magnitude - incomprehensible.
Yeah. It's truly disconcerting. And to see the trailors out there -and the gutted houses. The hope just underscores the isolation.
The situation there is awful, but your pictures beatifully tell it.
