a) Elvisb) Beatles
This may sound strange. Although there are more Beatles songs I love than Elvis, my heart is with the King. His Deep South roots just make me feel closer to him. The argument then would be: "Elvis Presley!" "Carl Perkins!" "Elvis Presley!!!" "Carl Perkins!!!"......
Oh it's torture to choose... but it has to be Elvis. The voice. The hips. The sheer pzazz (or however that's spelt). And, ultimately, the pyjamas.
The Beatles 4-ever!
The Beatles for saying they were bigger for pop-culture than Christ. Then apologizing and saying that they really were. Also, for "Here, There and Everywhere" and "Day Tripper" and 8 million other songs.Elvis was not the King for me. though, early Elvis had southern soul. Black music made safely for white folk.
I've gotta go with Zack on this one. On any given day, I'm more likely to spin some Beatles (despite my previous curmudgeonly proclamation), but in some essential sense, Elvis is my man. (We're talking early Elvis here. Late Elvis is... well, that's just something altogether different.)
