"Ruckus"

You know what word I'm liking?
ruckus
A fine and evocative word in its own right, and it has excellent synonyms: fracas, rumpus...

  1. We have a "rumpus room" in our basement. I just like having it there. Makes me happy.

Also enjoy: ziggurat = ancient temple

There could be a ruckus in the rumpus room.

  3. Knackered. I don't use it, because I'm not British, but I do like to hear it.

What about the other word mentioned in that entry? Ruction. I've never heard of it. When did that one go out of vogue?

Well, I can see why - maybe.

"That guy's no good. Always having...uh...ructions. Everywhere. All the time. The smallest things get him started."

"Wow. I heard about the fights, but that's too much. Uck. I mean, COME ON!"

  7. What's the plural of "ruckus"? "Ruckui"? Of "rumpus"? "Rumpui"?

"There were several ruckui in the rumpus room today"? Hmm...

  8. As a child I was always being told to stop making a ruckus but it has gone"out of style " and one does not hear it much now. I do like it however.
