Daylight Savings

Each spring, when the clock turns forward an hour, I feel as if something that has been every so slightly wrong with the world comes right again: evenings should be long and summery, the light should stretch long and golden on the streets as people easily wind down their day. I like it.

What are you liking?

Dr. Lonnie Smith's "Rise Up" album and longer warmer days.

I HATE, HATE, HATE turning the clock back in fall. I am never awake early enough to benefit from a sunnier 6 am. (Unless I am still awake from the night before and then it does me no good.) It makes me angry at farmers, or school children, or whatever other powerful special interest group that has forced us to live with that annual injustice. FREE EVENING SUNLIGHT from its early morning prison.

I'm liking the wildflowers popping up out here in Cali. Orange poppies and "neon yellow" freeway flowers, as my son calls them. I'm so glad you have a blog so I can read about all things trivial and NOLA. Missing it.

Also into: the birds chirping like mad, all thawed from winter.

Also also: Krasny Vostok (Red East) russian beer. Cheap and delicious.
