Mixel by Lulu: Landscape with Butterflies

Continuing her use of that Mixel app, Louise has been whipping up all sorts of digi-collages, and of course, I'm quite digging them. (Why is it that whenever I talk about my fondness for my kids creations, I slip into beatnik-speak — "dig it", "digging it", and other variations?) More kiddie-creations to come.

  1. Very koool, daddy-o. It's in the genes apparently. My spouse just downloaded Mixel on her brandy new iPad-io.

  2. "Daddy-o"/"Ipad-io" — dig it, man. I expect she'll quite enjoy it. Lot's of fun. We've most just played with our own little collages on our own little ipad-io, but if so inclined, one can share up one's collage creations to their big collective collage-cloud, and then others can take what you've made and start recombining it, riffing on it, get their own totally new creations inspired by what yours — a sort of share-n-swap collage collective.

  3. Oh, and for a while, when they were little, I tried to train my kids to actually call my kids daddy-o, though it never really stuck, and we reverted back to papa (my ultimately preferred nomenclature). 'Twas what my dad an aunt and uncle all called my grandpa. (Louise says it with a straight American pronunciation: a longer flatter first syllable with a slight uptick on the second. June, somehow channeling her ol' New Orleans heritage, gives it subtly French rendering: quicker, with a higher subtle emphasis on the first syllable.)

  4. I like the collage riffing-sharing idea. You know that the youngins just dive in while some older folk say "well, there's so much to learn". Learn by doing is still true, non?
