This morning we went and picked blackberries down by the Mississippi. Louise was a great berry picker. June wasn't much help picking the berries, but she did an excellent job eating them. It brought back pleasant childhood memories for me and will hopefully create pleasant memories for the girls.

  1. I have great memories of picking blackberries from the wild-growing bushes on our backyard fence growing up. Glad to see it go to the next generation.

  2. Anonymous10:23 AM

I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I wasn't sure. 90 degree heat, prickly thorns. Still, somehow, kids love to pick blackberries. Highlights for me:
    1) June wanting to eat only "pink" ones
    2) Louise: "Teresa, why do you KEEP putting down my bunny ears!?"
    3) The delicious cobbler we got out of it. Thanks Sarah.
I feel lucky that little Robert and the girls will grow up together with these memories.

  3. I'd love to know what she was saying at the moment the photo was taken

  4. Although I don't really recall, I'm going to guess it was "No!"

  5. oh that look on her face is too priceless. as though caught in action, but proud and defiant of them blackberries.

even without reading your words... immediately brought back my own childhood memories.

blackberries and blueberries will always always remind me hours spent with dad... picking [and shhh.... eating] them.
