House-A-Day: Seafoam

house-a-day: seafoam

  1. I enjoy your photos of the houses in NO. I have a question. Why do so many of them have two front doors? Some of them seem too small to be duplexes.

  2. They may seem to be too small to be duplexes (or "doubles" in the local parlance), but that's what they are. (Doubles are very common around here.) And some really are teeny. Others just look that way from the front, but are actually very deep. (With the shotgun layout, houses tend to be narrow on the street but go back a long way.)
